A Gift of Daisies

Colored Ink Painting

Author, D. Denise Dianaty

--

I often create works of art or poetry as gifts for my husband. Below is another such artwork. The painting is a card I created just for him for Nowruz, the Persian New Year.

I used a painting technique with colored inks. I created the painting on glossy print paper. (The paper was actually waste cuts from a magazine print run. I don’t recall the exact year I painted this. It was before we bought into our first house in 1996. We married in December of 1991; so, it had to be sometime between 1991 and 1995.

My signature daisies are again front and center of my artwork. The vase is an interpretation of an old beach bucket I used to carry with me on excursions to the beach with my Gran when I was young. I’m not sure why I was inspired to recall that bucket for this drawing. All the details in the image were rendered from my imagination — it was not painted from an actual floral arrangement.

Painted c. 1990–95, by D. Denise Dianaty.
