A little history of Adobe and Apple: Apple became the niche system of creatives, of writers and artists and graphic designers. Software like Adobe Suite and QuarkXpress went hand in glove with that. For years, the graphics software didn't work with PC systems; their niche was administrative and clerical. Unix was a scientific niche — NASA for example. Linux filled the academic science and engineering niche.

They're all cross compatible now. But, back in the day, when I was a professional, PCs just didn't do graphics. All those other system interfaces simply were not intuitive to the way writers and designers think and operate. Apple was — and still is. All the others may do Adobe and other graphics stuff; but they still make your work for it in ways Apple doesn't. Apple just functions the way I, as a designer and artist and writer, expect it to.

Yes, Apple costs more than other systems. But, it lasts three to four times loner in my experience.
