A penchant for "drowning out unwanted knowledge" and demanding "instant gratification and distraction" – Those two things engender all the wrong thinking that has lead to poverty, greed, hate, and our own dying human ecology. It seems to me part and parcel of the massive antithetical misrepresentations corrupting the whole point of what is recorded of Jesus' life and teachings.

Jesus never told anyone to turn a blind eye to suffering and injustice – He taught the reverse. He told us to serve others if we would lead, to spread the good news of grace and love, and most of all to be known by our love for others.
