Abortion Rights Are Pro-Life
Overturning Roe v. Wade diminishes women’s personhood
Let us be clear:
Forced birthers are only concerned about a right-to-life from conception through birth. They don’t care about prenatal care for the mother nor postnatal care for the child. Once forced to birth, forced-birthers’ ideal of “pro-life” doesn’t extend to children loved, fed, educated, housed, or safe… until they want to own a gun, but then only as long as they are the right sort of people.
Since the Nixon era, the political right has used abortion rights like a sledgehammer against the political left. The forced birther movement, self-identifying as “pro-life” kept hammering “Christian evangelicals” and political conservatives into a minority power bloc. Then, back in 2010 came the rise of the Tea Party in republican power, followed by the even more extreme rightwing MAGA movement in 2016 with the rise of white American evangelical nationalism with Trump as its standard bearer. Abortion rights commentators have been telling us since at least 2010 where American evangelical conservative politics would take us. They’ve been sounding the clarion alarm since 2016. We were told those commentators were exaggerating for their own political expediency. Indeed, when “we the people” voiced our concerns, we were called alarmists and accused of hysteria. Year after year, decision after decision, conservative attempt after conservative attempt… ever more extreme rightwing conservatives have been chipping away…
