Actually, as a historical costuming point, the tie is correct. It's why Dick Tracy, Sam Spade, Philip Marlowe, Mike Hammer, et al, wore ties and fought all manner of bad guys, from mobsters to nazis. It's historically correct to the period.

But yeah, it's not ideal in a clinch. But then, neither are those pencil skirts and heels women wore – or their teeny weeny battle bikinis they often still wear.
