Again, this is founded in the culture and traditions of the time. Remember, Paul was a pharisee and he never really completely broke away from that legalistic interpretation of social life, neither in the church nor in life.

Is love and justice in that pronouncement? It is not. So, we may discern it is the imposition of Paul's culture and the period into which he was born.

Just as we know the Founding Fathers intended that neither women nor Black people were to be included in those inalienable rights, we nevertheless persist in our understanding that the core meaning of the language in our Constitution still confers those rights upon us all.
