Also me. But, I would come home with a full week's worth of groceries and do NOT have to go back every other day for stuff that was forgotten. THAT drives me nuts! My husband goes to the grocery with a list and comes back without everything on the list. The worst is that my lists are made according to the recipes for meals planned. Change something on that list and the meal plan is out the window.
I've agreed I shouldn't go by myself after my protracted illness in 2018 left me easily fatigued and a bit wobbly. So, my husband usually just goes himself. He also has this weird notion that he is saving money by spending less at-the-time – he refuses to include all the extra trips and his extra time and headache from making trips back to the store every other day. And, you know you can't get out of the grocery story for less than $30. I spend $150 for an entire week. He spends $70 to $100 "for the week" then goes back and spends $30 to 50 three or four more times.
For example, I made a list of ingredients for my Beef and Vegetable Barley soup. He came home with the chickpeas and barley. He claimed they didn't have the frozen mixed vegetables – okay, supply chain issues, I'll warrant. He said the beef didn't look nice and he'd bring some from work (he works in an upscale grocery) off clearance – which he did the next day. Sure, fine. But, why didn't he get the onion and the garlic and the V8? So… I have a can of useless chicpeas in the cupboard and a piece of beef in the freezer. He has yet to get the remaining ingredients.
Sorry. With this one, you hit on a real bone of contention between me and my hsuband. This morning – Saturday – my son and I are headed to Lidl for a proper grocery.
