America doesn't value it's teachers or education these days. There's a concerted effort by some in power to criminalize truthful and inclusive teaching. Plus, for years and years, teachers haven't been adequately paid and classrooms have been under funded. When a teacher is paying out of their own pocket for basic supplies for their students, something is already terribly wrong. Add that teachers may be victimized for presenting honest and factual history and science, and you have a recipe for a mass exodus of good teachers, leaving apathetic ones who are little more than glorified babysitters collecting a subpar paycheck.
