As a student, studying fashion history, I too felt there was an incongruity in Chanel's WWII story. Other designers and design houses colluded too. For example, Marie Dior (sister of the Dior) was a Nazi financier. Balenciaga thrived under Nazi occupation and was a close friend of Hitler's ally, Franco. And, Dior himself dressed Nazi wives and daughters in the Lucien LeLong design house.
