As hard as it is on the partner, infidelity is even harder on the children… especially when the partners keep staying together through repeated infidelities. That was a big part of my childhood. My parents stayed together through many infidelities. My mother had an extended affair while my father was overseas, when they were newly married. He came back and she wasn't dishonest about it; he stayed with her. Maybe that's why she stayed with him through his seven affairs over the course of the next twenty years.

Maybe they stayed together because of us kids. Maybe it really was their fundamentalist beliefs. IDK. I do know they never had any concept of how damaging it was for us kids to grow up watching it all.
