As you may recall, I also had my son at 40. My husband is Persian and Gray self-identifies as Persian too. He's GenZ, almost 21, and lives on his own for now, doing fairly well financially, having forgone student debt to date. I hope to stay in our practically perfect little one-story home for the rest of our lives.

However, Hamid and I are both old and I can see a future where we live with him. It would actually be in keeping with Persian culture. Still, when/if that happens, I worry he will be stigmatized as living with his parents, rather than the other way around for all the reasons you outlined.
