Because they, like us, were socialized to think hairy is masculine and hairless is feminine. The truth of humanity is that adults are hairy and children are hairless. When you think of that way, this demand to be complete hairless — for a man or a woman — feels kind a creepy. I mean, I do not want a man with a smooth body like a ten year old boy's. Ewww!
