Y'know, there's an ancient saying, "As goes the king, so goes the country."

There's another, "A fish rots from the head down."

With bald cruelty and corruption behind the Resolute desk, society itself will be corrupted. There's a real risk of meanness getting into even the kindest of hearts.

For example: Hamid and I happened to be out and about right at noon. On Wednesday, here was a lot of traffic in our Trumpy rural farming town and Hamid, annoyed, wondered where all the people came from. I pointed out they were probably on their way to get lunch.

Then, the thought went through my head… "I hope they choke on it."

That is the biggest threat to getting through this nightmare. We must not become what we're fighting.
