"Cultural competency" – I really like that term. It's going to my new favorite term, I think.

I completely agree. Hence, my qualification of, "However, children have questions and those questions should always be answered as factually as possible." Those questions, to my mind, woud fall under your category of "cultural competency." That cultural competency is no less necessary than learning about gender, racial, ethnic, and even disabled discrimination. I inlcuded a few of my own personal experiences of how the discrimination harms. My experiences may not have been of LGBTQ discrimination, but they were no less deleterious and may easily and obviously be extrapolated to the harms LGBTQ discrimination causes.

Sadly, a tiny minority is determined to outlaw cultural competency because their feelings might be hurt.

And yes, that law will absolutely increase violence, discrimination, and pain – especially for children.
