Democrats do not agree. Left leaning independents, like myself, do not agree. We make up more than half the electorate. TBC, dems comprise close to forty percent of the electorate, with upwards of seventy percent of independents identifying as left-leaning or moderate. Republicans and far right-wingers make up around a third of the electorate – they've just positioned themselves in red states with outsized influence.

No state's influence should be so weighted against the will of the majority. For example, states like Oregon and Wyoming are sparsely populated, but have an outsized influence on the Electoral College results. One vote in those states has as much electoral weight as something like 60 or 70 THOUSAND New Yorkers.

Gerrymandering is also suppressing the liberal and progressive votes. For example, here in my state, the registered voters skew more left than right statewide. Districting should reflect that. But, our GOP decides the maps. In 2016, they had given themselves ten of the thirteen districts. Even after the court battles to make them draw more accurate districts, they still gave themselves eight districts to our six.

Gerrymandering deeply impacts the Electoral College. The party that controls the state, controls the electors. When districts warp the results to suppress one side, the result is anything but a fair reflection of the will of the majority.
