Except… they are not being spoon-fed The Word. The Bible tells us that Jesus is The Word.

They are more comfortable having “The Word” spoon-fed to them by the man in the pulpit and will not even think to scrutinize or think critically. They were taught from an early age that the Pastor of the local church has been given a special endowment of the Holy Spirit that gives them special insights into Scripture that normal church members don’t possess.
