For me, about the only time I use profanity in my writing is when something makes me so angry and vengeful feeling that anything less than profanity is meal-mouthed.

I also can't help hearing an old writing teacher's admonition, that the English language is a treasure trove of unending ways to say a anything with eloquence and "intellectual profundity" – she was fond of that phrase. To sum up, she'd often quote, "Profanity is the refuge of a lesser mind."

I also recall walking with her to her car in the middle of a Tennessee ice storm to find it wouldn't start. The stream of cursing she let loose was long and expressive, and quite, quite blue. LOL
