Genesis – the Old Testament Hebrew scripture – says that in the beginning was the Word and that the Word was God. John 1:1 and 1:14 say that Jesus is the Word. It is your interpretaion that saying that implies the any part of the bible is the word of God.

And, based on broad and innumerable scholarship, those old fables and stories were and still are used as lessons to teach children how to live and think.
