"Going to hell in a hand basket" is not typically applied to individual people. It's a condemnation about how the state of a group or town or company or country is rapidly descending into chaos and/or moral terpitude – and whose en masse after-life travel plans are thus bound for hell.

For an individual, we'd more likely say, "He's gone to the devil!" Or, "To the devil with him!"

Or, "Leave him to God," if we're of a kinder nature.
