Good choice, I'd say.

… blood cells don’t look at all like the round stuff on the cover of the book. Ha! Ask me if I care! The stuff on the book looks cooler for a novel about vampires. And it’s a lot easier to work with from a typography standpoint.

Good choice, I'd say. The stuff on the cover looks more like spilled blood. Blood cells don't look particularly dangerous or vampirish to me.
