His is specific to our county and the county EMS is partnered with a specific instition requiring he receive his paramedic training there. Fortunately, it's a highly rated EMS and college. He graduates from high school this June as a certified EMT and goes to work immediately in the apprenticeship. While working, he be working and taking inhouse training to advance his skills and add to his certifications as and EMT. Then, after six months working the apprenticeship, he starts at the college to become a board certified paramedic while continuing to work a schedule crafted around his education.
With his paramedic degree, he'll go on to a full university where that degree will cut his bachelor's premed studies down to only a couple of years instead of four or five. From there, he'll go on to medical school for four years, then intern somewhere for another four years, then residency for four years.
