I actually have a system for my use of claps.
I give one clap to indicate I read a piece. But, there were quality, structure, or content issues which diminished my enjoyment of the reading or when I lose interest along the way. Still someone put in the effort and got my eyes on it, so I clap once to let them know.
I give five claps when I'm interested in the topic, but it wasn't covered deeply enough to hold my interest or there were structural issues in the copy.
I give ten claps when I enjoy the reading and the structure is good and the topic holds my interest, even if it's outside my usual favored themes.
I give 25 claps when it's well-written, enjoyable, and/or teaches me something new.
I give 50 claps for writing I consider superlative in form, structure, and content.
