I agree. And, archeology is exposing it. Everywhere Alexander is touted to have built a city, they are unearthing artificacts beneath Alexander's cities which predate his by hundreds or thousands of years, and usually continue within his cities as an "old quarter."

In Ra'kadyet, the old quarter was called "Rakhotis" on maps of the time. Egyptians called Alexandria, "Alexandria next to Egypt." It kind of says to me that Egyptians of that era never really accepted Alexandria as truly Egyptian.
