I agree this is especially true for transgender attacks. But, it could be said of all bigotry, really – from racism to sexism to trans and homophobia to xenophobia. Why, after 200,000 years (I think that's the lastest estimate) of homosapien existence, have we not evolved beyond demeaning and demonizing what is other from ourselves?

Might we hope soon for an evolutionary human species who rises above such petty fears?
