I agree with your assessment of art on everything EXCEPT "plagiarism."
Plagiarism is a word for word or pixel for pixel copying of an original work. Plagiarism is outright theft… the enslavement of another person's stroke of creative genius. And, yes, it is theft of genius – otherwise the plagiarist wouldn't be stealing it.
