I always recommend composing posts on the desktop in a word processor before posting to Medium. For one, the grammar and spelling apps within word processors are more thorough and more user friendly than the minimalist one in Medium. In addition, word processors have a view print option which will allow you to see what your document looks like graphically. You don't need to follow through on printing; but, it does give you a layout visual you cannot get in Medium the same way.
