I can't imagine going through that. My husband were struggled to conceive. After 12 years, we finally had a beautiful, bright little boy. But, I was warned never to try to risk trying for another child, that I would be unlikely to deliver successfully again. We wanted to adopt a sibling for our son. But, we couldn't afford private adoption. When the public resources told us we'd have to foster and might not get to adopt at all, we couldn't do that to our little boy. I just couldn't see how we could bring in a little "brother or sister" only to have the state come rip our new little family apart because "reuniting families" was the state's primary goal. We couldn't do it because I imagined a similar heartbreak as you described with little Jonathan Adam.
Were you able to adopt Joni's baby?
