I clap before actually reading the post. My Safari is having fits over Medium since the updates and often gets hung up so that I have to quite and open it again. It often does this midway through an article. Many times, I have to actually force quit. I don't know what Medium did to their code, but my browser hates it with a passion. I don't have this problem with any other platform I use – even when I have multiple platforms open simultaneously.

But, if I clap a few times at the start, if I have to quit or force quit, the writer still gets their 30 seconds and those payout claps. I always intend to read in full.
