I consider myself a devout progressive Christian, but I don't announce my faith as a matter of course. Indeed, and sadly, I too go on my guard when someone just announces they are Christian. For myself, I identify "Christians" by watching their actions, listening to their conversation, and paying attention to their pronouncements. I try to discern what is in their hearts. Because, anyone can cloak themselves with empty words. But, the lives we live demonstrate what is in our hearts.
