I did find that, but not with my parents. I found that with my grandparents. If not for my Gran, I probably would have done as my sisters did – married to get away from home and been miserable and self-doubting (and too often condemning and hateful of the Other). And, I fully believe I would not still be here. In truth, I never expected to live long and certainly not so happily for so long. I genuinely believed I'd die young – probably because I didn't want to live the life expected for me by my mother.
