I did the same when my son was first suspected of being on the spectrum. His diagnosis thought he might be a person with autism or, more likely, Aspergers – but the child psychologist settled on ADHD "on the spectrum" (whatever "on the spectrum" might mean) to his ADHD diagnosis.
