I didn't have romatic relationship with a narcissist. My mother had tendancies like your describe for a narcissist. It certainly describes her relationship with my day – for whom she was a lifelong obsession. I never really saw her in that light until I read your essay and saw her behaviors in what you wrote. You really can't ever make a clean break with a parent.
