I don't believe so. We're not meant to take abuse or validate harm just to get along. Even the Bible tells us, "And whoever shall not receive you or hear your words, shake off the dust of your feet when you depart from that house, or that city." [Matthew 10:14 (I think)]

Respect must be earned. Conversely, there must be consequences for disrespect.
