I don't think schools have any real idea how to handle these things. It's a shame. Personally, I think a big part of the problem is class sizes — and, not enough teachers and counselors. Class sizes are too big for one teacher to manage, and aids have mostly been eliminated. Counselors are only on campus once every couple of weeks. Heck, even the school nurse is gone. The go-to seems to be foisting drugs on kids to keep them docile and in their seats, or classify the kids as problems that cannot be helped (school-to-prison pipeline, anyone).
