I get what you're saying. I used to feel the same way. I tried so hard for decades to be open minded and to attempt to understand. I can't afford to do that any longer. I can't afford to entertain the hate and fear defining their perspectives.
In America, that "open to other perspectives" has been turned into a weapon the rightwing has been using for decades now to try to silence empathetic perspectives – and even to silence truth itself. I'm 60 years old. I've spent the last forty years trying to be open minded about their perspectives.
It's gotten so bad that the right is this very moment mainstream republicans (one of the only two politically viable parties from which to choose) is actively legislating against basic human rights. They are legislating for the past 40 years, the right has manipulated and corrupted the electoral districting so they could cling to power by minority rule – a minority base that is only about a third of the citizenry. And, they've been whipping that minority to increasing extremism and fear and anger, and increasingly authoritarian fascist dogmas.
I'm through being "open minded" to their perspectives. It's time to realize their perspectives amount to expressions of raging sociopathic narcissism and mental illness. There is simply no room in a rational society hoping to evolve into the future for open mindedly entertaining the poison consuming perspectives of America's rightwing leadership and their base.
