I got away with being different, as an artist. Yes, I had a very artsy style all the way back in 1977 and 78. With my born-that-way preternaturally pale complexion with naturally rosy lips, and penchant for flowy black on black ensembles and black eyeliner and mascara, I was Goth before that was even a thing!
