I grew up in a Navy family in the 1970s. Plus, I spent my summers around Ft Bragg. I only saw folks in civvies if they lived off post. When we lived in family housing, my father wore his uniform anywhere we went on base. Sundays, he'd put on a civilian suit to attend church off base.

Isn't it interesting how different the branch cultures can be?
