I had the same lessons. In fact, after one particularly fire-and-brimstone sermon, mother went home and gathered up all our secular music and magazines and books (except school books) and set them ablaze in the backyard grill. When I protested and pionted out she was keeping "all that Elvis stuff" she'd collected when he died, she got that and burned it too.
