I have to disagree. IME, that's a cop out – an easy way to avoid responsibility for the harm we do. Humanity is responsible for most of the bad. We make decisions that cause harm, from systemic poverty to poor education to institutionalized bigotries to destabilizing the ecology. Even the harm to people from natural disasters in our modern world can largely be traced to harms we did to the ecology or to poor choices of where and how we build.
Blaming God or any deity for the crap we caused is more of the God-slave interpretation of the divine. It's a refusal to accept our culpabity and a lack of will to find solutions.
You're response is exactly the thing my essay is about.
