I know. The GOP has been evolving to this since at least when their current core base fled the Democrat Party when they became the party of civil rights. That core never went away. It's same core which is now the GOP base.

That core was there at the founding of the nation to push for those slave states compromises in the US Constitution. They were the committed devotees of succession and civil war. They were the hardliners who pushed for an end to the Reconstruction. And, they were the architects of Jim Crow and redlining.

They were the "Southern Democrats" before that party turned away from them and toward civil rights and progressive justice. Now, that old core of hardliners are the mainline GOP.
