I really thought you were going to tell us it meant something entirely different colloquially. For example, my college Spanish teacher explained that in his country (Cuba or Puerto Rico — I cannot recall which), to say to someone, tu es un pollo is a cutting insult… as in, a man will cut you if you say it to him.
