I started wearing glasses in first grade. By the time I was in high school, I was groping for them to see to walk. In 2021, I had cataract surgery including lasik, astigmatism correction, and with full corrective lens replacements. I now need only over the counter readers for reading and no glasses for distance vision.
For decades, I wished I could open my eyes and see my husband's face clearly without having to grope for my glasses. It's amazing.
Those full corrective lenses were pricey ($3600 each). They're not covered by insurance – they only cover the cataract removal. Each lens is custom made and must be paid for before manufacture. We're still paying for them. But, it's totally worth it.
