I still don't believe that is true. It seems to be the case with fundamentalists and evangelical rightwingers. Contrary to what the theocratic corporatist rightwingers would have us believe, Christians are not a monolithic demographic.
The rightwing is actually a grasping, but fairly small minority demographic. Religion and their own superiority are their politics. Only around 33 or 34% of our populace skews right, and even fewer skew far right. The problem is the way districting is apportioned to give their demographic more weight.
As Christian Americans, we're really every demographic. We are left-wingers and democrats and independents as frequently as any other demographic. We just don't go around waving the religion flag and demanding other believe as we do. Just like everyone else, more of us Christians skew left than right. Unlike the right, we on the Left don't make our religion our politics. We don't put our faith into the organizations of religion – we have faith that God is within us.
