I too have a big problem with that. I have a big problem with the choice of complicity that comes with silence and apathy.

I am estranged from my kin – I can't even bring myself to call them "family" any more. I'm estranged from them because of their bigotry and Trumpism. TBC, they were Trumpian before he ever lent his name to their dogma. And, I had been keeping them at arms length since I walked away from their Pentecostal fundamentalist evangelicalism. I even planned my wedding to a Persian immigrant so they could not attend. But, their full-throated embrace of everything white-identity – including turning their bigotry on my then 12-year old son – I could no longer even think of them as family.
