I understand some of the impetus for maintained lawns. We don't want the wild bush, full of snakes and rats growing right up to our homes and where our children play. I've just never felt the grass lawn obsession.

I've always wanted a clover lawn. It's native to the region, grows anyway in grass lawns, good for the pollinators, never grows overly high, and readily spreads. It grows in bad soil or good, its resistant to damage from pet urine, it doesn't need constant watering, and can actually help make bad/depleted soil healthier.

In particular, I'd love to have a red clover lawn… just as an aesthetic choice.
