I was legally blind by the time I was 20 from myopia. My mornings began groping for my glasses so I could see to walk. In my forties, I developed old-eyes (presbyopia) – that was when I started feeling old. In my mid-to-latish fifties, I developed cataracts – I knew I was old then. Before my cataract surgery, I couldn't see with or without glasses. Now, I'm farsighted to the point that I can see the cat on the porch over a block away from my front step. However, I need readers to see my phone or any text. Those dang readers – and hobbling around on a cane for my arthritis – make me feel ancient and decrepit!
