IKJWYM here. When I composed my novelette, my main characters die near the end of the book. I spent the entire rest of the book weeping – not just about the story, though. Little things in my otherwise lovely life would set me crying. Weeks after I had finished the book, I was still struggling with that sadness; and every little thing that didn't go right became a minor tragedy.
