IKJWYM. I see people trying to wedge their own interpretations into the reader's mind. But, poetry, as you intimated, poetry is art. Every viewer will feel something unique to them in viewing the art. That is rather the point, after all – to evoke something in the viewer, not to tell them what to feel.
