IKR? I mean, just take Afghanistan as an example. People are starving. Power systems are failing. Supply lines are destroyed. Most of the country lacks running water. Whole communities are in ruins. They sent the army into the schools and university to remove woman and keep them out. The army. They're not defending any of the very real and existential dangers threatening the country and/or Taliban rule. They're not being employed to help build infrastructure or get necessary function back to country.

A standing army – any country's single biggest economic expense – is deployed to oppress half the population just because they are women.

What a gawdawful, downright evil waste.
