I'm actually glad your pub isn't too restrictive about image placement. There was one pub I tried which insisted an image had to appear at the top of every post. It didn't matter if the reference for it didn't come until halfway into the article or at the end – the image must come at the top of the article. It seemed a strange requirement. Unfortunately, I've run into a couple of other pubs with the same stricture.

Such a stricture is at odds with publishing and layout on a professional level too. These pubs aren't requiring an identifying banner or author photo. They're eliminating contextual placement of photos – the common sense professional publishing industry standard for centuries of publishing with images.
